NIEVES DE LA ROSA TAMEZ SR. Nieves De La Rosa Tamez Sr. born November 15, 1925 in La Sara, Willacy County TX to Fidel Tamez and Felicitas De La Rosa, passed from this world on October 30, 2015 surrounded by family. Nieves worked for O.P. Leonard Farms, near Monte Alto, from 1945 – 1968 and the Monte Alto Water Treatment plant from 1968 – 1995. A devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather and preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Valentina Silva Tamez and son Richard. Nieves is survived by his 5 children; Olga Chapa (Reymundo), Nieves Jr. (Gloria), Raul Sr. (Maria), Marvin (Yoli) and Daniel (Elizabeth), 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Nieves was a member of the Monte Alto Baptist Church. Nieves was the "biggest" Country Roland fan loving country-western dances with family and friends. Nieves was known as a jokester and very few escaped without being bestowed with a nickname. Visitation for Nieves will be held Today, Sunday, November 01, 2015 from 12: 00 noon to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at The Chapel of the Heavens at Guerra Funeral Home in Elsa. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 02, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Monte Alto, Texas. Interment will follow to La Sara Cemetery in La Sara, Texas.
