Per his obituary, Jack came to California in 1946 as a telegrapher and station agent for the Santa Fe Railroad. He also served three years in the US Army as a telegrapher in Korea and Japan. He graduated from Golden State College in San Francisco, earning a BA and MBA. In 1957 he married Nina "Jeanne" New, and they eventually moved to Rocklin where he began his 29-year career at Formica Corporation. His pastimes were playing his mandolin and harmonica, bridge, square dancing, singing in the church choir, and telling jokes. At age 88, he lost his brief battle with cancer. Survived by his son Randy and granddaughter Angela; predeceased by his parents Thomas Jefferson Sims and Amy Hardin Sims, brother Joseph, wife (of 46 years) Jeanne, and daughter Judy Lynn.
