Mrs. Frederick Berger died Friday at home at the east edge of Bremen following a brief illness with an attack of grip and a complications of ailments. the funeral was held Monday forenoon in Salem Evangelical church, conducted by Rev. Griesemer, followed by interment in Bremen cemetery. Her age was 72 years, seven months and five days.
Anna Mader was born June 3, 1842, in Winterried, Interlaken, Canton Bern, Switzerland. In July, 1859, she was united in marriage to Christian Abbiehl. Together they came to America in 1871, locating first in St. Joseph county, remaining there until about 19 years ago, when they moved to Bremen. Eleven children were born to them, four of whom preceded their parents in death. The husband died some two years ago. The remaining children are Chistian, of Maitland, S.D.; Frederick W. of near Bremen; Peter, of Lakeville; Jacob and Edward of Bremen; Emma Kling of Wakarusa; John of Elkhart. There are 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Oct. 15, 1914, deceased was again married to Frederick Berger, who survives her.
