Born in Greenwood, Miss., Maxine was educated in the Clarksdale, Miss. area before attending Mississippi Valley State College, where she majored in Education.
She worked as a certified nurse's assistant at Evergreen Hospital, where she retired after 31 years of service. Thereafter, she was a youth counselor with Crossroads, Inc. for 17 years.
Maxine was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Bordentown. There, she served as senior usher, team captain of the Women's Ministry, and a member of the Anniversary Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Vergil Jones; sister, Velma Jones; niece, Kim Mattocks; and dear friend, Haynes Rogers.
Maxine leaves to cherish precious memories her six sons, Juel (Margie), Johnny, Marvin, Gerald, Tracy, and Samuel (Kelly) Cole; two daughters, Conshella Cole-Ford (Danny) and Terry Cole-Woods (Edward); nine grandchildren, Christina, Robert, Christopher, Terry, Mita, Chelsea, Jordan, Mehgan, and Ethan; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Jones (Dena); one sister, Clara Jones-Davis; three nieces, Keri Anne, Theresa, and Pat; three nephews, Dwight, Michael, and Johnathan; and dear friends, Darlene Dalton, the Crossroads Family, Dee Santoleri, and Rachel and her bowling buddies.
Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. followed funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 104½ Elizabeth Street, Bordentown, NJ 08505. Interment will be in Bordentown Cemetery.
