BELLINGHAM, MA-
John M. Broderick, Jr., MSGT (Ret) U.S.A.F ., 72 of Chepachet, RI, died March 5, 2007 at the home of his daughter.
A decorated Vietnam War Veteran and retired Master Sergeant in the U.S.A.F., he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sara P. (Tusa) Broderick, his son Kevin, and granddaughter Adriane Broderick.
Mr. Broderick was born in Boston, MA., son of the late John and Gertrude (Herr) Broderick.
He was a resident of Bellingham since retiring from the U.S.A.F. in 1971, and a resident of Chepachet for the last year.
He was a 1951 graduate of Medford High School. Mr. Broderick served for over 20 years in the U.S.A.F.
His decorations included the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 bronze oak leaf clusters, Air Forces Outstanding Unit Award while serving with the 322nd Air Division, as well as numerous service and overseas medals. Member of the VFW Post 7272 Bellingham, MA.
After his military retirement, Mr. Broderick worked for Prime Computer, United Parcel Service and as a consultant.
He is survived by a son, John Broderick and his wife, Janet (Thomas) of Mobile, AL and a daughter Kathryn M. Zariczny and her husband Michael of Chepachet, RI. and five grandchildren, Kattie, Patrick and Erin Broderick and Stephen and PO2 Kevin Zariczny, USCG.
He is also survived by his sisters, Clare DeLeo of Universal City, TX and Ruth Michaelsen of Santa Rosa, CA.
Funeral will be held Friday 9:00 AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME 151 So. Main St. (Route 126) Bellingham, MA., with a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM in St. Blaise Church 1158 So. Main St. Bellingham.
Interment St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery Bellingham with military honors.
Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the VNA Foundation, VNA Hospice & Palliative Care Program, 622 George Washington Hwy., Lincoln, RI 02865-9919 would be appreciated.
