On 12 Jul 1861 Alfred, a jeweler, mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.
He was 21 years, 11 months and 20 days old.
He was wounded on 21 Oct 1861 at The Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia.
On 24 Sep 1862 Albert ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts for disability.
He died unmarried on 15 Oct 1862 at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, in a hospital. He was 23 years, 2 months and 23 days old.
