Wade was the son of Wade M Burnette and Helen Daley. He was graduate of Portsmouth High School and the Eastern School of Photography in Boston.

He owned and operated Wade's Taxi Service in Portsmouth from 1938 to 1942, before entering the U.S. Navy during World War II as a signalman first class.

Wade was a freelance photographer, operating Cornet Studios and Photography by Wade. He then was a staff photographer for the Portsmouth Herald for 25 years, from 1960 to 1985. He was a familiar face at the Hampton tollbooth for 10 years, until 1995 and then operated Wade's Taxi in Portsmouth from 1996 to 2000.

On June 19, 1949, he married his wife, Helen M. Smart, at Briar Motor Sport Park in front of 50,000 people at Loudon. His brother-in-law and sister-in-law were married at the same time.

He was an avid motorcyclist, a member of Franks Riders and the American Motorcycle Association and he was also an avid amateur radio enthusiast.

He attended the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth; and was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge No. 56 F&AM, Portsmouth, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Portsmouth and Dover, and N.H. Consistory 32 degree of Nashua.
