Bettye Jane Green Wilson, 83, a retired builders hardware office manager, passed away from this life Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at a local care center.

Bettye was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Fort Worth. She married Jerry Lee Wilson on April 16, 1939. She was a descendant of several generations in Tarrant county, including her mother, Jewel Green who was one of the first women postmasters in Fort Worth, and her father, Claude Green, who was a police lieutenant with the Fort Worth Police Department. Bettye attended Polytechnic High School. Her business career spanned several years as office manager for Webb Builder's Hardware and Stafford Metal Works, both in Fort Worth.

During their long and happy marriage, Bettye and Jerry were devoted to each other, seldom apart. They were bass fishermen together and fished lakes all over Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Additionally, they were members of the Order of the Eastern Star, OES#9 in Fort Worth, where Betty was worthy matron in 1960, accompanied by her husband as her worthy patron. After retirement, they toured almost every state in their various RVs, frequently as volunteers for the National Parks Service. The two tours of duty Bettye loved the most were in Alaska, where the couple served as campground hosts for the NPS. Bettye and Jerry attended Oakhurst United Methodist Church for over 30 years, where Bettye taught her Sunday school class. She was known as a Bible scholar and enjoyed teaching regularly.

Above all, Bettye loved her husband and family.
