Gwendolyn Downs, known as "Gwen," was a City Police Officer in Louisville, Kentucky. She died in the line of duty at age 26. Officer Downs and her partner was responding to a disturbance call in a parking lot. After waiting a few minutes there, they were unable to find the person who made the call. Just then, Officer Downs estranged husband pulled up into the Parking Lot near them, as she approached him, he pulled out a handgun and shot her, then committed suicide. Officer Downs was survived by two daughters.
