Born in Winsted, Conn. to the late Leonora and Antoine Girard, Bob resided most of his life in Waterbury, Conn., working for General DataComm (GDC) until his retirement in 1997. He relocated to Jupiter, Fla., spending most of his days with family and friends, fishing and relaxing by the beach.
Bob was a well-known perfectionist and the ultimate handyman. You could count on him to have the cleanest, most organized home in town; and he could fix anything that crossed his path.
He was loved and respected by his family, friends and neighbors, being known as the “go-to” guy for anything they needed. He placed a lot of care and attention into everything he did. If he acquired a project or task, you can guarantee it was going to be completed with dedication and perfection.
He is survived by his five children, Debra Pollard of Waterbury, Robert Girard II and his wife Kim of Oakville, Lori Girard of Waterbury, Michael Girard and his wife Tammy of Virginia Beach, Va. and Shanyn Walker and her husband Danny of Las Vegas, Nev.; also, nine grandchildren, David, Dawn, Tracy, Justin, Ashley, Amanda, Krystal, Jessica and Katie; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, David Girard and his wife, Denise; his sister, Claudia Scott and her husband, Bill; and former wife and friend, Linda Girard; as well as his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his late wife, Joanne (Andrikis) Girard; his brother, Jean Girard; and sister Barbara Brickett.
