OBITUARY OF JERRY DON DANIEL

Jerry Don DANIEL, resident of Waxahachie, Texas, was born in Dallas, Texas, on August 04, 1938, the son of Pearl L. (Hopkins) and Clyde G. DANIEL.

He passed away on February 08, 2016, at age 77.

Jerry Don was retired from the United States Postal Service where he made many friends for 30 years.

He was a man of many passions and loves, among them a good gospel quartet, strawberry milkshakes, and tractor pulls.

He loved collecting stuff he was sure would come in handy someday and working with his hands to fix and build things.

Telling silly jokes was a constant, but breaking into laughter before he got to the punch line was common.

He loved his wife and family, helping others, cooking and grilling and bragging about his kids and grandkids.

Jerry Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Myrna Rose (Lindsey) DANIEL; his daughters, Tammy BROWN, Wendy LONEY and her husband Chad, and Kathy DANIEL and husband, David JONES; grandchildren, Amanda ANDREWS and husband Paul, Jeremy LaRUE, Colin LaRUE, Timothy LaRUE and wife Polly, Jacey SHOEMAKER and husband Kyle, Aiden WISDOM, and Daniel JONES; great-grandsons, David, Ezra, Jordan, Brenden, and Kade; and great-granddaughter Kayelin.

Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Jaynes.

Burial will follow in the Midlothian City Cemetery.

Visitation with the family is 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, also at Jaynes.

Tammy writes: Today I lost the first man in my life to love me, my Daddy.

He was the kindest, gentlest, sweetest man you could ever meet.

He loved like Jesus and he loved Jesus.

He loved my Mom and us girls like you could not describe. He was so proud of his family.

While a quiet man of few words he would take any opportunity to tell you how wonderful his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids were.

He leaves a legacy that most could only hope was a fraction of theirs. He leaves a hole in our hearts, but rejoicing in our spirits.

We know where he is and there is no longer any pain, no longer loneliness, or fear, or wondering why he suffered.

I know God has a special seat right next to him where Daddy surely sits and listens to his soothing voice and whispers to Him, "Did you see that? That one is mine. Isn't she/he so smart, talented, athletic, and loving?"

I am proud to be called his 1st Daughter! We love you Daddy!

Jacey writes: Jerry Don to some, GranDaddy to a few, Daddy to three and Jerdon to one, was a man who lived his life with few words and a lot of selfless loving actions.

He was a hard-working man who was loyal to his family and faithful to God.

He was a simple man who liked his 10 o'clock news, banana pudding, and having his family close. We will all be close to him again soon.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4
