Dale Erickson, 84, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Dale was born on November 2, 1932 in Bark River, Michigan. He graduated from Bark River Harris High School and was awarded a baseball scholarship to Western Michigan University. He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and became a member of the Army Air Force where he was instrumental in building an airstrip at Anderson Air Base in Guam. While there he was able to indulge in his love of baseball as a member of the unit's baseball team. Dale was an avid golfer and enjoyed being outdoors. He passed his love of camping, hiking, and skiing to his children. He was a master woodworker and there was nothing he couldn't fix. He had a passion for sports, and didn't pass up a good game on TV. Dale was a faithful Vanderbilt fan and rarely missed attending Commodore football games or supporting the Lady Dores basketball team. He was generous with his time and was a member of various community organizations throughout his professional career. Dale was a loving husband and father with his family always being his number one priority. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Mabel Erickson and his brother Ronald Erickson. He is survived by his wife, Anne; children, Carrie Erickson, Penny Mast, Beth (Wayne) Wood, and Chris (Latha) Erickson; six precious grandchildren as well as four great grandchildren. Dale will be missed for his character, strength, generosity, and humor but most of all for his love. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Rev. Edward F. Steiner officiant, preceded by visitation at 9:00 a.m.
