Bruce G. Mills, age 73, of the Town of Sigel passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, at his home.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Bruce was born on October 2, 1943, in Mineral Point, WI, to William and Elizabeth “Betty” (Lynch) Mills. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1962. He married Marjorie Chambers which later ended in divorce. He later would make what he considered the “best move” to Wisconsin Rapids where he met his wife, Kathy Ironside, on the links of the Homestead Golf Course. They were married on May 26, 1978, in Wisconsin Rapids. Together they farmed dairy cows and horses in the Town of Sigel. Eventually, Bruce would start and operate his own business, Mills Building & Remodeling until his retirement.

Bruce was an avid Green Bay Packers and NASCAR fan. He and Kathy would attend as many races as they could. Bruce’s last race he could attend before he started kidney dialysis was the 2009 Daytona 500. He garnered the nickname of “Timex” as the old commercials would say, “could take such a licking and keep on ticking,” because of his toughness and courage to battle kidney disease and the number of surgeries he had endured for such a long period of time.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: Bryan Mills, Mary Jo (Phil) Timm, Jarett (Lisa) Mills, Jill (Adam) Demars, Deanna (Todd) Zarecki, and Heather (Barrett) Young; sister, Maribeth Weirs; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Billy Mills, and sister, Becky Springer.

Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Davita Stevens Point Dialysis, Marshfield Clinic and Medical Center for all the care and kindness they have shown Bruce over the years.
