ALDWORTH John Gray Aldworth, 80, of Halifax, Va., died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at his home. Born in New York City on October 3, 1920, he graduated from Cornell University in 1942 with a B.S. in electrical engineering and business administration. While at Cornell, he was a member of the honorary society Tau Beta Pi and also was Commodore of the Crew. He later obtained a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University. During World War II, he achieved the rank of Lt. Col. in the U.S. Marines, where he served in the Pacific T/O in the First Marine Division. During this term of service, he was awarded a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Following the war he began his lifelong career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation ending as Division General Manager of Small Power Transformers in South Boston, Va. After 40 years of service, he retired in June of 1985. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Roberts Aldworth; a former wife, Cathryn Dixon Aldworth; three children, John C. Aldworth, Donald R. Aldworth and Nancy Aldworth Thompson; three stepchildren, John R. Clement, Katherine W. Austin and John R. Williams IV; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the home on 205 Maple Ave., in Halifax. Graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on January 1, in St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Halifax, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to Project Prime, Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, Va. or the Cemetery Fund of St. John's Episcopal Church, Halifax, Va.
