Wilma G. Brooks, age 86, a resident of the Canton Christian Home, passed away there Friday afternoon. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Albert and Iva Blackmer Gantz, and was a life resident. Wilma was a 1930 graduate of McKinley High School. She and her husband operated Brooks Food Market at 4th St. and Grandview Ave. NW for many years. She was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple and the Jolly 60's and the Young at Hearts of the church, McKinley Chapter # 1013, A. A. R. P., Edgefield Chapter of the A. A. R. P., and she had served as secretary of the Nazir Grotto Senior Citizens. Preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, Albert Ross Gantz, Jr., Corma Fee, Mildred Presco, and Marie Lewis Ressler; also a grandson, Jeffery Brooks. Survived by her husband, Walter G. Brooks, with whom she celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 3rd; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Linda Brooks of Canton, and Robert and Anna Brooks of Palm Harbor, FL; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Hazel Garen and Velma and Andrew Pelger, all of Canton; one brother, Charles "Bud" Gantz of Canton; five grandchildren, Sean Brooks, Stacey Narus and her husband, Mark, Christopher Brooks and his wife, Jessie, Alyssa Brooks, and Kristina Brooks; two great-grandchildren, Michaela and Ryland Brooks.
