Samuel Grisham Nichols' death certificate is the source of his final resting place. He took his life by ingesting Carbolic Acid. The following month, his daughter, Mattie Blanche Nichols took her life in the same manner.

G. T. (George T.), age 16, W. D. (William David), age 13, Henry M (Montgomery), age 9 and Pink (Samuel Grisham), age 5.

By Sep 1865, the Nichols family had returned to Arkansas, and their son, Albert Marion Nichols was born 6 Sep 1865.

Samuel Henry Nichols and his family were recorded on the 1870 Short Mountain, Franklin Co., AR (modern-day Short Mountain {Paris} Logan Co., AR), and their surname was erroneously listed as Samuell.

The 1900 Short Mountain (Paris) Logan Co., AR census indicates Sudie (nee Campbell) Smith Nichols had given birth to seven children and five were living. Tommie Della was erroneously listed as Thomas D. Nichols, born May 1889. All five of their living children were in the household.

Children of Samuel and Sudie were:

Mary Emma Nichols, born Dec 1886 Paris, Logan Co., AR and died before 1928 in Tulsa, Tulsa Co., OK. She married David Augustus Ladd.

Tommie Della (nee Nichols) Gentry, born 19 May 1889 in Paris, Logan Co., AR (according to the 1900 census) and died 27 May 1917 in Koch, St. Louis Co., MO. Her parents' names are on her death certificate, and she's buried in this cemetery. Tommie married Wooster Allen Gentry 4 Jul 1907 in Pottawatomie Co., OK, and they were counted on the 1910 Ward 8, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK census with their two sons, Elmer Fletcher Gentry, who became Michael Elmer Gentry, and Arkansaw Gentry, who became Harold Chester Gentry.

Harold Chester Gentry was born 31 Jan 1910 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK and died 29 Jan 1958 in La Mirada, Los Angeles Co., CA.

Mattie Blanche Nichols, born 7 Feb 1892 Paris, Logan Co., AR and died 22 Mar 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri. She never married. Her parents' names are also on her death certificate, and she's also buried in this cemetery.

James Albert Nichols, born 19 Mar 1894 in Paris, Logan Co., AR and died after 13 Jul 1932. He was last recorded in Veterans Home in Hampton, VA. At this time his marital status was: Separated. When he was to be discharged from the VA home, he was to go to St. Louis to live with his brother, Elmer. James married ca. 1919 Eleanor "Nellie" (maiden name unknown). He was the informant on his father's death certificate.

Elmer Nichols died in a VA hospital in Mountain Home, Washington Co., TN. He married Ruby Unknown, and at the time of his death, he was divorced.
