Maurita Joan Murray was born on May 6, 1936 in Storm Lake, Iowa, a daughter of Wilfred Clare and Mary (Kestel) Murray. She graduated from Briar Cliff College with a degree in nursing and earned her BSN (Bachelor Science of Nursing) from St. Ambrose College.

Maurita maintained her nursing license for most of her adult life. After her children moved away, she volunteered throughout our community and served as a school nurse at Holy Family School. She was a longtime member of Holy Family Parish and the Genesis West Auxiliary.
Maurita was known for the smile on her face and an easy laugh with a giving spirit. She was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the World Champion Chicago Cubs and games at Assumption High School. Maurita also enjoyed attending her local grandchildren’s activities. She had a great social network and community of friends, and enjoyed keeping tabs of the ongoing events and people in our community.
