Betty Jean (Williams) LaFountain, 85, formerly of Middlebury,Vermont died on August 26, 2017. She suffered from failing health for several years. She was born on June 4, 1932 in Pittsford, Vermont, daughter of Clinton B. Williams and Gladys L. (Snell) Williams. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1949. She married William W. LaFountain of Middlebury in 1952. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary on October 16, 2012.

Betty was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved to knit and crochet and made many pairs of mittens and socks for her children, and the children of others. In her later years she made pillows with hand stitching until she had to give it up due to failing eyesight. Betty was known for her love of children of all ages, her home and her heart always had room for one more. Her legacy lives on, not only in her own children, but countless more whose path she crossed.

She is survived by her eight children; Michelle LaFountain and Stan Friend, Julie and James Miller, Amy and Darin Muir all of Dallas, Texas, Leni and Pat O'Donnell of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada, Billy and Christa LaFountain of Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, Andrea Held, and Mark and Tammy LaFountain, of Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada, Alice and Steven Shepard of Corpus Christi, Texas, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, two sisters, Martha Hutchins of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania and Phyllis Elliott of Denver, Colorado.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill who died in June 2013, her brothers Len T. Williams of South Burlington, Vermont, Hubert W. Williams of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Clinton J. Williams of Marion, Indiana.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
