Jay Anthony Adams, formerly Ferdinand Jr., 66, of Algiers, died peacefully at home on August 24, 2017. He was born on March 12, 1951 to the late Ferdinand Anthony Adams and the late Shirley Mae Doucet Adams in New Orleans, LA. Jay had loved boat building with his dad, as well as fishing. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, LA in 1969. After high school he served his country in the U.S. Navy, deployed to Vietnam until September of 1973, when he was honorably discharged from service. He then went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of New Orleans. In the early 1980's he taught Physics at John B. Ehret High School in Marrero, LA. He spent the rest of his life working to provide clean drinking water through his business Adams Professional Wastewater Service, to numerous small communities and corporations all over Louisiana. He taught wastewater science as a guest lecturer at several universities over southeast Louisiana and received numerous awards from the State for his services. He was also a member of the Environmental Protection Agency for over 20 years. In 2012 he married the love of his life, Helen Lee Crotty. He was loved by the Crotty family. Jay will be missed by his brothers and sisters who saw him as their big brother, whose cooking and conversation will always be longed for. He will also be missed by his many cousins with whom he was close. Jay was predeceased by his brother Brooks Adams. He is survived by his wife, Helen Lee Crotty, and his daughter, Jessica Lee McNeir. He is also survived by his siblings, Lisa Adams Littrell, Scott Adams, Margaret Adams and Victor Adams. He was greatly loved and will be missed.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Assumption Church, 923 Josephine St., New Orleans, LA. Family visitation will be held at the Church at 9 AM on September 2nd. Public visitation is 9:30 AM. Mass will begin at 11 AM, followed immediately by Interment at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego, LA.
