Bettie Bingham Anderson, 90, of Knoxville died on August 26, at NHC Farragut.

Born in Knoxville on February 21, 1927, she was a graduate of Knox High and attended the University of Tennessee. She was a dedicated charter member of Central United Methodist Church, as the church was established the year she was born. She was a tireless volunteer for many organizations, with a sincere focus on the homeless and feeding the hungry. She established the Central United Methodist Food Pantry and was an active volunteer for many years at Volunteer Ministry.

She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas E Anderson; father and mother, Dr. Letcher Reaves Bingham and Sadie Somers Bingham; and brothers and sisters (Joseph, Charles, Margaret and Anna.)

Survivors include: brother Reaves Bingham, of Knoxville, daughter and son-in-law, Meg and Bill Winans of Strawberry Plains; daughter Ann Anderson Phillips, of Knoxville and daughter and son-in-law Amy and Michael Allen of Atlanta, and her beloved grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart, John Thomas Shults of New York City and Parker Reaves Allen of Atlanta, Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at NHC Farragut for their care and respect of our loved one in her last months. The family will have a family service where her ashes will be interred at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at Lyons View.
