Clyde R. Allison went to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday August 27, 2017.

He was born September 8, 1947, a native of Jackson County, Clyde was the son of the late Frank and Charlotte Queen Allison.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Katherine Wilson Allison and a son Stacey Allison (Jennifer) of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, 2 grandsons: Shane (Cheyenne) of Arrington, TN and Kaleb of Knoxville, TN, one sister Paralee Shipman of Arden, NC and two brothers: Daniel Henry Allison of Whittier, NC and Robert Hugh (Sandra) Allison of Burnsville, NC, and 4 nephews. He had many personal and cherished relationships with neighbors, relatives and friends.

He served two tours of duty in Viet Nam working as a water purification specialist in forward fire-bases in the US Army.

After the U.S. Army he was semi-truck driver for Western Auto in Johnson City, TN, retiring in 1993. He returned to Cherokee, NC and worked as a Postal Clerk for nineteen years retiring in 2009.

Clyde was an avid trout fisherman and dearly loved farming and tending to his cattle. He also enjoyed teaching adult Sunday school classes for many years. As a strict adherent to the Bible he believed that God's gift of salvation was secure to anyone who was personally convicted of and who repented of their sins to God.

The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday August 31 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Reverend Tommy Ashe will conduct the funeral with the American Legion doing military rites. Burial will follow at the Sherrill Cemetery in the Shoal Creek Community of Jackson County.
