Brian E. Dawson, 50, of Jacksonville, died Friday, August 25, 2017, in Springfield. He was born May 23, 1967, in Quincy. Brian married Sara Ormond on October 10, 1992, at St. Alexius Church in Beardstown, and she survives.

Brian is also survived by one son, Zachary Noah Dawson at home, his mother and step father, Judith and Robert Farmer of Jacksonville, his father, Myron “Gene” Dawson of Meredosia, one brother, Mark Alan (Holly) Dawson of Jacksonville, nieces and nephews Cassie Lipcaman of Macomb, Josie Cadwell of Springfield, Landon Lucky of Mt. Sterling, Chase Alan Dawson of Jacksonville, and McKenna Ormond and Carter Ormond, both of Mt. Sterling; and several aunts and uncles.

Brian graduated from Chrisman High School in 1985 and came to Jacksonville where he graduated from Illinois College in 1989. As a student at Illinois College, Brian was involved in music ensembles, the Student Activities Board, and Sigma Pi Literary Society. He was one of a select few college students in the state to receive the Order of Lincoln Award from Governor James R. Thompson during his senior year. Soon thereafter, Brian became a graduate of the Wisconsin School of Banking. He was currently a computer specialist for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Springfield.

Brian lived his life as a dedicated servant. He was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer and was a former chairman, elder, and Sunday School teacher. He used his musical gifts generously at the church as a member of the choir and as a soloist at special services at the church. He never said “no” to anyone, donating countless hours of his time to the Robbie McEvers Golf Tournament and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Brian provided the same generosity to his family and friends, readily available with his sense of humor in tow. Above all else, Brian cherished his time with his son Zachary.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
