Thelma passed away August 27, 2017 in Mount Vernon with family by her side.

Viewing will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017, 12:00 pm until the Rosary, 7:00 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be Friday, September 1, 2017, 12:15 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (400 N. 15th St.), followed by Committal Prayers at Mount Vernon Cemetery and then reception at St. Joseph's Center.

Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.

Thelma was born April 19, 1922 in Molt, Montana to Charles and Loretta (Ryan) McManus, she passed away August 27, 2017 in Mount Vernon with her family by her side. Thelma grew up in Laurel, Montana where she graduated from High School. After High School she moved to Seattle and started working for Boeing. She met her first husband Leo Schroeder in 1943; he passed away during his service in WWII in 1945. Thelma moved back to Montana with her and Leo’s daughter, Connie. During that time she met Art Schreifels and they married in 1947. They moved to North Dakota where they started their family. Leah and Diane were born. In 1950 they moved to Great Falls, MT where Larry, Joan, Gregg, Cathi, Vicki, Linda were born. In 1959 they moved to Seattle where Loretta, John and Kelly were born. In 1971 they moved to Skagit County where they have lived since and have had multiple businesses. Thelma loved to dance and had a witty personality. Thelma loved people, she never met a stranger. She was a devout Catholic and she taught CCD. Thelma was preceded in death by her first husband: Leo in 1945, and second husband, Art in 1991; son: Gregg in 1980; grandsons: Nicholas in 1994, and Tony in 2010; granddaughter: Sara who died as stillborn and 5 siblings. She is survived by her children; Connie (Harry) Meyer, Leah (Steve) Meissner, Diane Bee, Larry (Cleo) Schreifels, Joan (George) Ruiz, Cathi (Kevin) January, Vicki (Jerome) Ruhland, Linda Schreifels, Loretta Schreifels, John (Moraima) Schreifels, Kelly (T.J.) Wayenberg; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws: Cecelia Schreifels and Rosemary McManus; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Viewing will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 12:00 pm until the Rosary, 7:00 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home.
