Tupelo - Elaine Gullett Hudson, 89, suffered a sudden heart attack and went to be with her Lord and Savior at 12:15 am on, Sunday August 27, 2017. Elaine was born in New Albany, Mississippi on February 4, 1928 to Mabel and Alvie Gullett. She married the love of her life, Winford Hudson from Pinedale, Mississippi on September 18, 1949. They had three children, Regina, Mark and Blake. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on September 18, 2017.
Elaine worked at Sears Department Store and was a Physical Education teacher and a teacher assistant at Church Street Elementary School. Over the years it was a joy for her to interact with her former students and co-workers.

Elaine was a long time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where she welcomed the opportunity to lend a helping hand or listening ear to those in need. She served in numerous volunteer positions working with youth and senior services. She greeted everyone with a hug and a smile and made them feel special and was the greeting committee coordinator for many years.

Elaine loved everyone who came across her path. People and animals alike benefited from her loving care. For over 50 years, Elaine baked bunny cakes and delivered them to her friends. She was an exceptional gardener and her cottage at Traceway was surrounded by beautiful flowers. She always watched after her bluebirds and attracted so many to their property it was called Blue Bird Knoll. She had a passion for the outdoors and shared her love of nature with her grandchildren and great-grands.

Our family was blessed to have shared 89 wonderful years with her. Her life on earth has ended but her love has not. Her love will be forever felt in the lives of her children, family and community. We would like to say a special thank you to Wesley United Methodist Church members, Traceway Retirement Community staff and neighbors, and her many friends who made her life a wonderful journey.
Services will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Puhr and Dr. Bryan Collier officiating.
