Charles Johnny Starnes, 76, of 107 Winfred Circle went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Charles and Rachel Jeanette Harris Starnes Griffin. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was a retired employee with Cryovac with 37 years of service. He was a member of Wellford Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and a lifetime member of the NRA. Mr. Starnes was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1958 to 1962 having been stationed in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall.

Surviving are his wife, Margie Pittman Starnes of the home; one daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Jarrell of Wellford; one son, Dwayne Keith Starnes of Shelby, N.C.; one sister, Ruth Caronado (Gary) of Wilmington, N.C.; three brothers, Joe (Barbara) Starnes of Boiling Springs, Ray (Susie) Starnes of Knoxville, TN, and Tim (Janet) Starnes of Talbot, TN.; 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Zachary Jarrell. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Guy.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Unity Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Sisk and Rev. Andy Parker. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lanford Gwinn Mortuary in Woodruff.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Unity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 156, Enoree, S.S. 29335 or the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, S.C. 29607.
