William H. Secrest
William Harry Secrest, 63, of 209 S. 12th died at 8:15 p.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since March 16. He was in ill health 15 months.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mitchell-Jerden Funeral Home with Rev. William Stark officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Mr. Secrest was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Mattoon, the son of John and Rosa Higgens Secrest. He married Mabel Hoskins Feb. 6, 1929, in Mattoon.
Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Archie (Ruth Ann) Edwards of Route 2, Arcola; one halfbrother, Charles Secrest of San Bernardino, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Snegier of Buckley, Wash., and Miss Stella Secrest of Santa Ana, Calif.; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Secrest was a sheet metal worker for Johnson and Co., East Moline. He was a member of the Broadway Christian Church, Mattoon Masonic Lodge 260 AF & AM and White Shrine 57.
