William Edward Butcher, Sr., 79, passed to his heavenly father on Thursday, February 2, 2017 after a long battle with ALS. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Edwards Butcher and son James Lloyd Butcher. He is survived by son, William E. Butcher, Jr. (wife Tamara); grandchildren Matthew Butcher (Danielle), Jacob Butcher and Joseph Butcher; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Meredith; siblings Marshall Butcher and Sally Myers.

Bill was a member of the US Airforce and relocated to CENLA in the late 50's where he met Diane. Following his military service, Bill worked at Esler Field Airport as the Manager of the Maintenance and Charter Services, holding the only FAA mechanic license in CENLA at the time. He worked in the agricultural equipment sales for many years before retiring to dedicate his life to care for his wife who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Mr. Butcher was a member of the First Methodist Church of Pineville. He requested that no service be held and in lieu of memorials, donations may be made to the First Methodist Church, 2550 Monroe Hwy, Pineville, LA 71360, Jimmy Butcher Scholarship Fund.

The family wishes to extend warm thanks to St. Joseph's Hospice and Khristi Oates for the great care and attention provided. A special thanks from the family to all of Bill's friends and acquaintances thatcontacted him often during his illness. God Bless.
