Katherine “Katie” Collins, 39, of Cottrellville Township, entered eternal life on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She was born October 14, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan. Katie graduated from Marine City High School in the Class of 1995. She studied cosmetology for a brief time but found her real interest as a paraprofessional in the East China School District. Katie met Jeff Sankuer 22 years ago and fell madly in love. Katie achieved her highest calling when she became a mom to her daughter, Grayce. Katie had a caring and giving heart and was devoted to her family. She loved spending time shopping with her mom, Susan and Grayce. Katie had a special spot in her heart for animals too. Katie is survived by the love of her life, Jeffrey Sankuer; her beloved daughter, Grayce; her mother, Susan Zimmerman-Collins; her father, Marc (Kathy) Collins; Jeff’s parents; Patrick (Caroline) Sankuer; her siblings, Valerie (Kevin) Visga, Vince (Melissa) Collins, Dan (Carrie) Collins; step brother and sister, Ryan and Lori Bely; grandparents, Robert Zimmerman and Pauline “Grandma Jack” Collins and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 14, 2017 in Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross, Marine City. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm Sunday in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City and Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the mass in the church.
