EMILE JOSEPH LAMOUREUX, 77, of 4 Nakomis Rd., a retired Navy career man and training specialist, died Wednesday at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Therese Alice (Lariviere) Lamoureux. They had been married for 54 years. Born in Woonsocket on Jan. 5, 1925, he was a son of the late Rudolphe and Elwinda (Chevette) Lamoureux. Mr. Lamoureux served in the Navy for 20 years. While stationed in Bremington, Wash., he played on the Navy softball team, which won the championship. He then joined the Naval Underwater Systems Center (NUSC), now the Naval Underwater Warfare Center (NUWC), working as a training specialist for 20 years until 1980. He then worked for the former Gould Corp. at NUWC, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 19, the Knights of Columbus, Middletown Council 4201, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was one of the founders of the Middletown Pop Warner League in the 1960s. He was a communicant of St. Lucy Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Michael R. Lamoureux of Bloomington, Ind.; a daughter, Michelle C. Freitas of Middletown; and four grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Leo Lamoureux and Raymond Lamoureux. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8 a.m. from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Lucy Church, 909 West Main Rd., Middletown. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown
