Gerrie E. Caines, 89, of Battle Ground, WA, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Mallard Landing in Battle Ground, WA.

Gerrie graduated from high school in Mossyrock, WA in 1935. He attended and graduated from Washington State College (now University) in 1939 and began his 37 years of teaching Voc. Ag., Machine Shop and Automotive in the fall of 1939 at Battle Ground High School. He retired in 1977. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his u-cut Christmas trees and his fruit orchard. He took many trips to British Columbia and Sitka, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (1985); brother, Paul Caines (2004); and sister, Edna Overstreet (1981). He is survived by daughter, Sandra Storie (James); granddaughters, Kimberly Batton (Richard), Karen Stoker (Richard), Kristina Muetze (Erik); four great-grandchildren, Amanda Batton, Travis Stoker, Ashley Stoker and Alex Muetze.

Memorial services will be held on Sat., Jan. 14, 2006 at 12:30 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA. Memorial contributions can be made to Children's Hospital. Columbian, January 13, 2006
