She was born in Norfolk and was a retired self-employed cosmetologist. She was the widow of Venson Covington. Mrs. Covington was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, its Female Ushers Ministry No. 1 and Senior Citizens' Ministry. She was co-chairperson of the Venson Covington Scholarship of Queen Esther Chapter No. 2, Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Larkie of Connecticut; a sister, Mary R. Hall of Norfolk; a niece, Anne Caldwell; six great-nieces, Nedra Jones, Yvonne Morris, Hazel, Diane, Judy and Cherly Hilliard, all of Norfolk; three great-nephews, Charles Alexander Caldwell Jr., Leslie Hilliard Jr., and Michael Hilliard, all of Norfolk; four great-great-nieces, Tonya Jones, Larika Jones, Tanika Jones and Sheena Morris, all of Norfolk; two great-great-nephews, Calvin Morris Jr. of Norfolk and Charles Larkie Jr. of Connecticut; two great-great-great-nieces, Kayla Jones and Paris Williams of Norfolk; a cousin, Odessa Williams of Elizabeth City, N.C.; the Riddick family of Philadelphia; and a host of friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will assemble at 6348 Avon Road, Norfolk. After the interment, visitors may join the family at the home of Yvonne Morris on Avon Road in the Greenhill Farms section of Norfolk. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
