He was in the US Navy 1943 to 1946 aboard the USS Runels DE 793, as an Electricians Mate. His ship received awards for service in the European-African-Middle East Campaign, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, and Occupation Duty in Japan.
He has been active in Georgia Republican politics for over fifty years, serving on the MARTA Board of Directors, as a Justice of the Peace, and as Chairman of the Gwinnett County Republican Party.
He was a member of Queen City Lodge No. 599, F. & A. M. for over 69 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Atlanta, and Yaarab Shrine Temple.
Fred Meyer graduated from the University of Cincinnati and Woodrow Wilson College of Law. He was a retired attorney and a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
