Mrs. Lena Lee Turner, age 81, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her residence.
She was born July 26, 1932 a daughter of the late Luther Burton McDonald and Audie Mae Hansford McDonald. She had been a resident of Rockmart the greater part of her life and was a member of the VanWert Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner was a former employee of Banning Yarn Mill in Villa Rica, Shaw Industries in Cartersville and was last employed by Mildred’s Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Turner on January 21, 2009, by an infant son, David Daniel Junior Hayes, by a daughter, Brenda Ingram and by a sister, Lonie Mae Dunn.
Survivors include a daughter, Miranda Waters and her husband Jason, Rockmart and a son and daughter, John and Glenda Williams, Rockmart; one sister, Elizabeth Maulding, Aragon; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Dunn and Rev. Jimmy Shoemaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Wimberly Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael Head officiating.
Pallbearers will include: Steven Swift, Brian Pyles, Andy Campbell, Michael Hayes, Lamar Hayes and Alan Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will include: Landon Sides, Lane Sides and Marshall Lindsey.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until; 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
