Catherine Louise Norris

Catherine was born Catherine Louise Kreitinger on August 25, 1930 in Golva, North Dakota the youngest of six children to Francis Xavier and Mary Catherine (Heinzer) Kreitinger.

Growing up in Golva, Catherine excelled at piano, acting and singing. She graduated from Golva High School in 1948, before attending Dakota Business College of Fargo North Dakota where she studied bookkeeping. Catherine worked at the First National Bank of Bismarck, North Dakota and the First State Bank of Golva.

She married Bernard Norris on June 19, 1956 and had six children, twins Mary and Julie, Debbie, Joseph, Kathy and James, settling down to be a homemaker.

After living a while in Montana the growing family moved to Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood in 1961, where she busied herself running a daycare, volunteering at school as well as being a den mother for the Cub Scouts.

In later life Catherine owned a restaurant in Magnolia and helped open the Sacred Heart shelter on lower Queen Anne, as well as being a staunch financial supporter for several charities.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard; a great grandson Andrew Carnell; her parents; sister Delphine; and four brothers Leo, Hugo, Frank and Joseph.

Catherine leaves six kids: Mary Brown (Paul) of Lynnwood, Julie Haney (Frank) of Port Orchard, Debbie Goodenough (Everett) of Everett, Joseph (Alice) of Shoreline, Kathy Morse of Phoenix AA, and Jim (Malyna) of Everett; and 14 grandkids and several great grandkids.

A Rosary will be held Wednesday evening August 30th, 7:00pm; with the Funeral Mass following on Thursday, August 31 at 11:00am. Both will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 22209 58th Ave. W, Mountlake Terrace. Catherine will be placed in the Holyrood Mausoleum in Shoreline, WA.
