Samuel Henry Miles, 75, formerly of Hereford, died Friday, July 26, 2013, in Canton, Ohio, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born Jan. 19, 1938, in Hereford, he was the son of the late Ellsworth and Elizabeth Wirtz Miles. He was the husband of Joan Leister Miles, his wife of 55 years.
He liked working with his hands to help people and believed that part of living out his faith was to help those in need. He enjoyed getting to know people wherever he went and also enjoyed doing various projects around the house. He was a an elevator technician for more than 40 years until his retirement.
He was a faithful member of Canton Bethel Temple church, where he attended for close to 40 years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Samuel Miles Jr. and wife Leonida, of Canton, Steve Miles and wife Teresa, of Oconomowoc, Wis., Stuart Miles and wife Kris, of North Canton, Ohio, Sheldon Miles and wife Michelle, of De Pere, Wis.; a daughter, Sharon Miles Butler and husband Craig, of Canton; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Sally Milich, who died in 2006.
