Thomas P. O'Malley
Resident of Mountain View

Thomas Patrick O'Malley, surrounded by his family and friends, passed away August 20th, after a 6 month battle with cancer. Born and raised in Mountain View, Tom was 54 years old.

He attended St Joseph's Elementary school, graduated from Awalt High school and worked for over 30 years as a Commercial Sales Representative. Tom's true passion was helping others and he spent many years as a proud member of the San Jose Search and Rescue Team. A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Tom was always ready with a smile, waive and helping hand for anyone in need. When not volunteering at St Joseph's school or for the MDA telethon you would find him looking for an outdoor adventure, camping, hiking or exploring ghost towns in the Sierras.

A devoted family member he is survived by his parents James and Lucille O'Malley, his brothers Jim O'Malley and Sean (Peg) O'Malley, his sisters, Erin O'Malley and Siobhan (Randy) O'Malley-Paul. He will be truly missed by his nieces and nephews, Kathleen Rymer, Meghan Paul, Patrick Paul, Jeffery Pratt, Julianna Pratt, Amanda O'Malley and Colleen O'Malley as well as grand nieces & nephews.

While we mourn for Tom's untimely passing, we need to celebrate his achievements and remember him for what he stood for; an unwavering dedication to help others and desire to share his enthusiasm for the simple joys in life, as in the case of his annual fireworks get together, and an unconditional love for friends and family.

Since Tom always gave more than he took, in lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the San Jose Search and Rescue P.O Box 3954, San Jose, CA 95150 (www.sjsar.org), or because of his love for all animals, Pets in Need 871 Fifth Ave, Redwood City, CA 94063 (www.petsinneed.org).

Viewing at 11am followed by Mass at 12 noon will be held on Sat.9/2 at Maryknoll, 23000 Cristo Rey Dr, Los Altos, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven in Los Altos. A reception will be held after the services at Michaels at Shoreline located at 2960 N Shoreline Blvd, Mtn. View.
