Jean K. Mason, age 92, of Ripon, WI, was called to eternal life on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Copperleaf Resident Home in Ripon.

Jean was born in Ripon on November 18, 1924, the daughter of William and Olive (Hill) Kosanke. She attended Ripon schools for 10 years and then graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1942.

On November 17, 1943, she married Charles Mason at St. Peter's Church in Ripon, and he passed away in 2000. While he was enlisted in the service she started her working career and continued working her entire life. Her work ethic and abilities as an executive secretary always found her good employment. She retired in 1984 from the Wausau Insurance Group after 18 years of fulfilling work.

Returning to Ripon, the town she loved, in 1983, she has been a faithful member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, serving on the Women of St. Peter's, the Vestry, the Altar Guild, and singing in the choir. She was also their volunteer secretary/administrative assistant from 1987 to 1996. Jean was a 25 year member and past president of the Oshkosh Business Women's organization. She was also an active American Legion Auxiliary member of Ripon. Jean was a member of the Ripon Medical Center Auxiliary, their secretary, and also a volunteer from 1984 to the last few years.

Jean was an independent lady, had everything in its place, and enjoyed reading, typing, sewing, traveling, going out to eat and having her brandy old fashion sweet. She was an avid Packer fan and attended the Ice Bowl, while keeping warm in her husband's sleeping bag. She had an ongoing rivalry with her nephew, Greg, who is a Seattle Seahawks fan. In fact they had just discussed the early Packer/Seahawks game this season.

Jean is survived by her niece and nephews, Carl Kosanke of Sammamish, WA, Thomas (Barbara) Kosanke of Paso Robles CA, Cathy (Robbie) Pitts of Whitefish, MT, and Gregory Kosanke of Bellingham, WA; and many dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents, William and Olive; and a brother, Carl Kosanke.

A Memorial Mass for Jean will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 217 Houston St., Ripon, WI, 54971, with Father Marcus Cunningham officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the Mass. Per Jean's wishes there will be a private inurnment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
