Darrell J. Stewart, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 18 in Cheyenne, with his family by his side.

He and his twin brother, Dean, were born March 17, 1944, in Sterling, Colo., to Jerald and Doris Stewart.

He was an avid racecar driver for more than 20 years and has broken several records in Cheyenne in car 66. He was a lifetime member of the Auto Racing Club. He lived and breathed for racing, always keeping up with NASCAR. His son, Darrell Lee, and two grandsons, Jason Stuart and Darrell Stuart, are following the family racing legacy.

He and his partner, Carl Miller, opened Miller-Stewart Inc. in 1974 and ran it together for 33 years until it closed in 2007.

Darrell was a longtime member of Moose Lodge 257 in Cheyenne.

He will be remembered as a fun-loving, joking, one-of-a-kind life of the party who was always giving people a humorous hard time.

He was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life for the past 22 years, Linda Stewart; three brothers, Dean Stewart of Rock Springs, Bob Stewart of Cheyenne and Ron (Fran) Stewart of Thornton, Colo.; aunt, Darlene; children, Diane Camilo and Kelly Brown, both of Victoria, Texas, Julie Terry of Colorado, Darrell Lee of Arvada, Colo., and Darrice Schram of Cheyenne; stepchildren, Michelle, Shan, William and Tammy of Cheyenne, and Jeannie of Casper; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two stepchildren, Wes and Vern Holyoak; and one brother-in-law, Gary Carney.
