Jack McDaniel, 85, of Hardinsburg, went to be with his Lord and savior on August 22, 2017 at his home with his wife and care giver by his side.

Jack was born in Barnesville, North Carolina on October 6, 1931 to the late Jenrett McDaniel and Nora Belle Bass McDaniel.

He was a member of the Garfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army for 26 years in the Korean and Vietnam Wars as an Engineer Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor. The honors he received were: Soldiers Medal, Bronze Star, and Meritorious Service. After retiring from the Army in December 1975, he went to work for the U.S. Army-Civil Service at Ft. Knox, KY, retiring in December 1988. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and traveling the United States with his wife.

He is survived by his wife Wilma "Jean" Norton McDaniel and they celebrated their Golden Anniversary January 14, 2017; sister, Peggy Richardson of Dudley, North Carolina; and one nephew, David Richardson of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 2 PM EDT at Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington. Burial will follow in Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 8 AM EDT to 2 PM EDT at Alexander Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Breckinridge County Animal Friends, Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery Fund, or Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
