Mr. Wambaugh was born in Littlestown on September 18, 1918 and was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Blanche E. (Wolf) Wambaugh.
Charles was a 1937 graduate of Dallastown High School. He was a welder for Borg Warner and retired after more than 40 years of service. He was a long time member of Spry Church, formerly Otterbein United Methodist, where he served on many committees and enjoyed the church fellowship. Charles was an avid hunter and a longtime farmer. He truly loved working on his farm and continued to do so until late in life. Above all things, Charles enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Rebecca L. Barshinger and her husband Kenneth of Dallastown; his four grandchildren, Lisa Miller, Kenneth Barshinger and his wife Christina, Benjamin Barshinger and Cathi Hicks and her husband Scott; 15 great grandchildren; and five great greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Thelma Foust of York and Lois Kohler of Mechanicsburg. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles B. Wambaugh, Jr.
A funeral service to honor Charles’ life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 30 at Spry Church, 50 School St., York, PA 17402, with the Rev. Dr. Ken Loyer officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday and will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment will follow in Otterbein Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Charles’ name be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
