Known affectionately as “Bear”, Mike was born in De Queen, Arkansas on July 15, 1960, and died on August 23, 2017 in Longview, Texas, with his parents and brother holding his hands.

Mike was a devoted friend to all who knew him. He retired from Texarkana Sheltered Workshop where he learned many skills and made many friends. Everyone that knew Bear came to love him. He loved outdoor activities and he especially enjoyed music. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Edith Byers of Texarkana, Arkansas, his brother, Marty Byers of Daingerfield, Texas, one uncle Zane Byers of Nashville, Arkansas, two aunts, Jo Ann Stringfellow of Horatio, Arkansas and Ruby Horne of Lawton, Oklahoma, and numerous cousins and a host of friends.

A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 P. M. Saturday at the Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas Chapel with Rev. David Watkins officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
