Inez Anderson Brown, 95, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully at Northampton Manor on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, following a fearless battle against the effects of dementia.

She was the wife of late Thomas C. Brown, their marriage lasting more than 69 years.

The oldest of three children, she was born in Jenkins, Kentucky on March 2, 1922 to the late James and Dora Anderson. She was predeceased by her brothers Howard and Douglas Anderson.

She is survived by sons James and Robert, and daughter-in-law Jennifer all of Jefferson, granddaughter Katie Brown of San Diego, and grandson Dan Brown of Philadelphia. She is also survived first cousin Libby Craig of Madison, Tennessee, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edwin and Winsome Brown of Dickerson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great-grand nieces, and great-grand nephews.

After marrying Tom in December, 1945, they settled in Poolesville for several years before buying their farm in Jefferson in 1960. Inez worked for several years as a secretary at Poolesville High School and then for many, many years following at the Scott Key Center as the administrative assistant, continuing there even after retirement. She was an avid bridge player, crossword puzzle lover, genealogy researcher, and detective mystery fan.

The family will receive friends at the Hilton Funeral Home in Barnesville, MD, on Sunday evening, August 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1914 Ballenger Creek Pike in Point of Rocks, MD on Monday, August 28th at 11:00 AM with internment following at the Monocacy Cemetery in Beallsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The family also wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Tranquillity at Fredericktowne Assisted Living for their years of kindness and attention to Inez.
