Charles "Chuck" Antel, Sr. was born December 26, 1945, in Talladega, AL the son of Harold E. Antel and Gertrude C. (Miller) Antel.

He passed away on August 24, 2017, at his home in Winona, MO with his loving wife by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gertrude (Miller) Antel; his father Harold Antel; Kenneth and Dorothy Ervin; several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Nina Hensley-Antel of Winona, MO; seven children April Paul and husband Brian of Saltillo, MS, Alecia Shane and husband Joe of Kansas City, MO, Chuck Antel, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Winona, MO, Steve Antel and wife Jennifer of Kansas City, MO, Sheila Worrell and husband Dean of Lincoln, NE, Tammy Hickman of Winona, MO, Regina Voyles and husband Kevin of Winona, MO, nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one on the way; five sisters Edna Burton of Excelsior Springs, MO, Bonita Edwards and husband Jim of Williamsburg, VA, Faye Green of Longs , SC, Joan Burton, Longs, NC, and Brenda Ervin of North Carolina; one brother Larry Antel and wife Barbara of Beaver Falls, PA; and a host of other family and friends.

Chuck moved from Talladega, AL in his early childhood to Pennsylvania and he spent a lot of his adult life in Kansas City, MO.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1963 was stationed on the USS Long Beach, the Navy's first nuclear-powered missile cruiser. He was on the ship during the Cuban Missile Crisis (Bay of Pigs) October16-28, 1963. He then went to Vietnam and fought in the invasion of the Mekong Delta where the boat he drove was hit by a mortar. He spent many hours in the water while injured. When he was rescued he was sent to Hawaii to heal and recover and then reassigned to the USS Long Beach. Chuck was part of the first around the world cruise without refueling (first Naval Nuclear Task Force). In 1965, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and he was very proud of his service.

After his service in the U.S. Navy, Chuck worked on the railroad as a flagman and then for many years in construction, and was proud of his handiwork.

In 1996, Chuck moved to Winona, MO where he remained until he departed this life. Even during his illness, Chuck continued to enjoy wrestling nights, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals games, and the time spent with his family and friends.

He was greatly loved and will be missed by many until we see him again in Heaven.
