Mark Allen Neel, 32, of Fairmont, passed from this life Monday (Aug. 21, 2017).
He was born in Fairmont, on Feb. 7, 1985, a son of the late Jerry A. Neel Jr. and Janice L. Raikes Neel.
He had formerly worked as the kitchen manager at Boston Beanery for 10 years and recently was on the pit crew at the local Dickey’s Barbecue.
He was a Christian by faith. He was known to be “the nicest person ever. He would do anything for you and not expect anything in return. He will be greatly missed.”
He enjoyed being in the company of good friends and family, playing basketball and writing poetry.
Mr. Neel is survived by his brother, Danny Neel; his maternal grandfather, Odbert Raikes both of Fairmont; several aunts, uncles and cousins; also nephews Jonas Owen and Max Allen Neel.
He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Linda Green, and uncle, John Raikes; his maternal grandmothers, Mary Alice and Connie Raikes; and paternal grandparents, Jerry A. Neel and Phyllis Smallwood Neel.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont. Services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Steve Meadows officiating. In keeping with Mark’s wishes, following the service his body will be cremated.
