Jewell was born in Stamping Ground, Kentucky, on August 27, 1929. She graduated from Henry Clay High school in Lexington, Kentucky and worked as a legal secretary, and real estate agent in Lexington.

She will be buried in Lexington, Kentucky next to her beloved husband at a date to be determined.
