John Kermit Mize Jr., 83, of Martinsville, Va. passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He was born on April 18, 1934 in Martinsville, Va. to the late John Kermit Mize and Doris Major Mize.
Mr. Mize was a member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville and was also a member of the Pythians, Patrick Henry Lodge #82 where he served as treasurer for a number of years. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He retired from Hooker Furniture as Manufacturer Superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Stultz Mize of the home; son, Steven D. Mize of Danville, Va.; sisters, Vicki Long and husband Andy of Durham, N.C. and Janice McBroom and husband Ernie of Hillsborough, N.C.; brother, Randy Mize and wife Erline of Oak Island, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Kate Mize of Boston, Mass., Holden Mize, and John Mize of Danville, Va.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with the Rev. John Fulcher officiating. Visitation will be one and a half hours prior to the service from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 also at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
