Dorothy (Dottie) Wester Plummer was born on the Hagen farmstead west of Horace, ND, on April 22, 1925, to Oscar D. and Agnette M. (Hagen) Wester and was the youngest of their five children. She attended school in Horace, ND and then moved to Minneapolis, MN to live with her sister, Helen, while attending high school. She graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis. After graduating, she worked with her sister Tessie at Northwest Airlines, later moving to Portland, Oregon to live with her brother Martin Wester. While living in Portland, she met and married, Ralph (Bud) Plummer, a ship's captain. She and Bud moved to Baltimore where he was at sea for months at a time. While he was away, she raised chinchillas and sold them for their fur. After a few years in Maryland, they moved to Panama where Bud piloted ships through the Panama Canal. They enjoyed their life there for 26 years. After retiring, Bud and Dottie spent many years traveling between Texas in the winter and Maine in the summer, always stopping to spend time with her family living in Minnesota and North Dakota.

Dottie was a gracious woman. Always so welcoming and friendly to everyone she met. Her "job' was taking care of Bud. Watching over his health and serving him salt free ham he discovered on post! She loved the people of Panama, often driving around looking for patio sales and seeking local treasures. She was a collector of antiques, shells, beads, and molas. She and Bud enjoyed digging for buried glass bottles resulting in an impressive collection.

Being a very family oriented woman and not having any children of her own, she cherished each and every one of her nieces and nephews, and they were always thrilled to see her. She was fun loving and silly, charming and warm, truly an amazing, loving person. She will be sadly missed by everyone.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Bud, her parents, three sisters (Helen Magnuson, Sylvia Flint, Tessie Gran) and one brother (Martin Hagen), one niece and one nephew.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, her loving caregivers, and many friends.

A graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington, Maine will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in Dottie's name to The Cass County Historical Society, Bonanzaville, USA, for benefit of the Hagen House, 1351 W. Main Avenue, West Fargo, ND 58078.

Arrangements entrusted to Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home in Ellsworth, ME.
