Alfred D. Tutela, 76, of The Villages, FL, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 following a brief illness at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, FL. Alfred was born February 11, 1941, the third child of Antonetta and Alfred J Tutela, in Boston, Massachusetts.

He was a dedicated, passionate educator having received his Bachelor of Arts in Education at Boston College, his M.Ed at Northeastern University and his PhD at Kent State University. He served as Director of logistics for Boston City Schools during desegregation in the early 70s. From there, opportunity called him for the same position in Cleveland Ohio by Judge Frank Battisti. His career escalated as he became Superintendent of Cleveland City Schools, Youngstown City schools, and retiring in 2006 from Wachusetts Regional School District in Massachusetts.

His retirement days were filled with joy, as he enjoyed riding around – or should I say racing around The Villages, in his golf cart, golfing daily in one golf course or another, spending his afternoons in the pool with his wife, cruising from country to country with his latest cruise being a pilgrimage to Fatima and many of the cathedrals and Roman Catholic churches in both Spain and Portugal. Alfred enjoy taking a backseat in large crowds and watching with joy as he put on holiday dinners and family/friend get-togethers. His joy was in providing joy to others.

He is survived by his adoring wife, Debbie S. Tutela; three daughters, Deborah Ann, Gina Maria (Mike Eident) & Sondra Marie; a foster son, Brian Murphy; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Tsangaris; a stepson, James J. Tsangaris; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; an older sister, Elizabeth DiNapoli; and a younger sister, Bernadette Peppe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred in 1975 and Antonetta in 1998; many aunts & uncles; and his older brother, Dominic in 2016.

Alfred will be forever remembered by his loving family and friends as full of life, love, and his ability to make everybody feel like they were the most important person he had ever come in contact with.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent DePaul parish in Wildwood, Florida on Monday, August 28, 2017, at Noon with Father John McCracken officiating. There will be no calling hours prior to the mass.

Following the service there will be a light lunch and served at Rohan Recreation Center, 850 Kristine Way, The Villages.
