She was born in McNary and raised in Lakeside. She started her education in Lakeside and later moved to Thatcher where she attended junior high. Her family moved to San Simon where she attended high school. It was here that she met Richard Newman. Together they were married in San Simon and just a short time later they moved to Pinetop/Lakeside. Judy and Richard were very active. She loved camping, fishing, and sports. Judy enjoyed watching her children be involved in sports, also loved crafts and needlework.
Judy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard Newman of Lakeside; three sons, Cody (Tauni) Newman of Belen, New Mexico, Frank (Paulette) Newman of Pinetop, Justin (Alisha) Newman of Mesa; three daughters, Marsha (Robert) Barker of Gilbert, Monica (Doug) Werner of Show Low, and Martie Newman of Chandler; 17 grandchildren; parents Max and Freda Lilly of Sanders; two sisters, Joan Newman, Janice Duke; five brothers, Rodney Lilly, Kurt Lilly, Mark Lilly, Marvin Begay and Hugo Hernandez; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 4 at the Pinetop-Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
