Merwin O. Hehs
(1931 - 2017)
Merwin O. Hehs of McQueeny, passed away on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at the age of 85. He was born in Schertz, TX, Guadalupe County, to parents Richard and Stella (Altwein) Hehs, on December 27th, 1931.On October 27th, 1956 Merwin married his lovely wife Lucille at Friedens Church in Geronimo, TX. Merwin served a short term in Korea for the U.S Army, and upon returning, started his career in the US Postal Service where he retired after many years of service. He was an active member of Cibolo Sons of Herman Lodge #147, and was also involved in the VFW. Merwin's favorite past times included spending time with family and friends at the lake, as well as hunting, fishing, and gardening. One of his greatest moments in his life was when he became Opa to his granddaughter, McKenzie. Merwin is survived by his son Richard, wife Jana, and granddaughter McKenzie Hehs. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hehs, his parents, Stella and Richard Hehs, stepfather, Alwin Lieck and his daughter Nancy Ann Hehs. Merwin was a loving and caring husband, father, father-in-law, and Opa, and we will miss him dearly. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 23rd at Zoeller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 24th, also at Zoeller Funeral Home with graveside service and interment at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park Cemetery to follow. Pallbearers are Allen Bebe, Albert Jandt, Edward Henk, Kenneth Osteen, Stanley Heinemeyer, and Harvey Vordenbaum. Honorary Pallbearers are Leo Henk and Hank Seekatz. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Senior Service of New Braunfels 779 Loop 337 New Braunfels, TX 78130. The Hehs family would like to give a special thanks to the loving and caring staff at The Heights of Bulverde, CIMA Hospice, and Caring Senior Service of New Braunfels.
